This month, there are two big things going on in the Alaskan energy world: the legislature is nearing the end of their special session focused exclusively on legislation to give tax breaks to the AK LNG project, plus three pieces of news from GVEA (two great, one not so great).

As the springtime temperatures heat up, the Alaska energy world is also heating up - this month’s newsletter has an update on high electricity rates at Golden Valley Electric Association (and what you can do about it), what the Legislature is doing about the AKLNG pipeline, and a peek at the Governor’s Suspicious Sustainable Conference.
Action Alert: Tell the Legislature to Protect Alaskans. No public subsidies for AK LNG!
AK LNG developers are keeping project details secret, but asking Alaskans to give subsidies worth billions of dollars — with no assurances the project would benefit Alaskans at all.
Take action this week and tell the House and Senate resources committees not to set Alaskan communities up to subsidize this corporate megaproject with rushed legislation. Their role is to protect Alaskans, not promote a pipedream.
Stop the secrecy: SB 275 is an opportunity to shine a light on the true costs of AK LNG
The Alaska Gasline Development Corporation’s plans for an 800-mile-long gas pipeline from the North Slope to Cook Inlet are mired in secrecy and misdirection. Email Senate.Resources@akleg.gov to tell the legislature that Alaskans deserve truth and transparency.
