The Movement Grows one conversation at a time: join us for tabling!

In these times, it can sometimes feel like we’re up against an insurmountable enemy. So much money flows to fossil fuel corporations and the politicians they pay for, and we’re left to clean up their mess. But our side has something the 1% doesn't: we have people. The majority of Americans believe climate change is real and think we should be doing something about it. There are way more of us than them.

We CAN create the change we need, but in order to do it, we need all of the people that are with us to be actively involved. We need our movement to be massive, and so we need to be thinking about growing on the scale of orders of magnitude.

But how do we grow like that? We talk to people. Direct person to person communication is THE most effective way of bringing people into our movement.

There are a lot of different ways we can do that, and they all involve a little bit of discomfort: door to door canvassing and phonebanking are two very effective methods. One of the lowest barriers to entry methods is tabling - this is where we set up an informational table at local events and talk to community members.

Tabling is an easier form of direct outreach for a lot of people because people come to you. You aren’t talking to anyone who doesn’t want to be talking to you. This is a great way to flex your direct outreach muscles, and utilize the skills necessary to make our movement as massive as we need it to be.

Want an opportunity to get some practice? We have multiple upcoming tabling opportunities, including at this week’s Angry Young and Poor fest! You don’t have to be an expert on anything in order to table. You just need to have a willingness to have real, honest conversations with fellow community members about the issues that matter most to them.

We still can win, but we need people in order to do it. You can have a huge impact on the future of the climate movement by getting involved in the hands-on work of growing our movement.
